North Bedroom

The north bedroom has the same dimensions as before, but its closet is three times larger and the door opens into the room instead of into the hallway.  We stripped and rebuilt the walls, replaced the carpet, and updated the wiring.

In the before photo on the left, the closet door is on the right.  In the after photo, the new bedroom door opens into the room.  The new closet doors are 6' wide.

The closet before and after.

The bedroom window was removed from the north wall.  It was very small, despite the window coverings shown in the before photo.

The window on the west wall was replaced with a new, energy efficient egress window.

A look into the hallway from the bedroom.

  1. Maybe add some shelves in your closet so you can maximize its space. Anyway, I was looking at the egress window after zooming it out, but I still couldn’t figure out if it opens inward or outward. Or does it even open? =/ I like it because you can use it for emergency escapes. Kindly see this photo I picked from Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/pin/28640147601132952/.

    1. Thanks for commenting, Allyson! I was thinking the same thing about shelves; we have the shelf up above, but there would be lots of room for shoes if we did more shelves along the side/end of the closet. The window opens out and it is a short drop to the ground outside. I liked your pin, though.
